Boston Depression 2009
Drake Benett, writer of the article Boston Depression 2009, says that a depression today would not compare to the last one. Even though people think they know what a depression would look like, they have no idea. Benett says that their would not be massive lines of people trying to get food, rather trying to get healthcare benefits. He says this because food was more expensive in the 1930's and most of people's money today is spent on health care. I like his ideas on how a depression now would not impact Americans as deeply as it did in the past with all the technological and ecnomic advances. Benett feels that many people will just be at home all day watching re-runs of there favorite television shows until the depression is over.

A TRUE PATRIOT

In the time of war, Americans can feel the freedom to give up their liberties in order to better the country. This does not mean that our liberties should be forced from us. We, as Americans. should always have our civil liberties and be able to use them whenever. Civil liberties are rights that protect individuals from the government. The government has no right to take away a persons freedom of speech or another rights just to better the country. The government should know that if a person wants to help the country they would be willing to give up there civil liberties. However forcing someones liberties from them could negatively effect society and not help during war time.

The Quote Of All-Time
"Everything you do closes a door somewhere ahead of you."
This is a quote from one of Cormac McCarthy's award winning novels. What he means by this quote is that as soon as you do one thing, other things are not available to you. Also, he means that everything you do has consequences. For example, if you were to commit a crime, it depletes your chances of becoming a police officer and you will go to jail. I chose this quote because it is the basis that really guides life and is made example of by people choices throughout history. I also chose this quote because it is open to a lot of controversy. For instance, many people think that not everything they do has consequences.

MCKINLEY GETS HIT HARD
Señor Don Enrique Dupuy de Lôme, Spanish ambassador in Cuba, speaks out against the United States. He called our people "weak and defenseless." De Lome says that he is having so much success and fun stealing money right from our sugar plantations in Cuba. The United States has already lost over 700,000 dollars. Not to mention that sugar is the main reson we are in Cuba. Above all, he has attacked our president by calling him "a child who should not be near any political people, led alone run a country."

It is our job as American citizens to not take this sitting down. Our country, Our Leader, is being verbally attacked from a country that is in no comparison to our strong nation. So tell your friends, neighbors, and even your neighbors friends to spread the word that our country needs take action in Cuba and stop the Spanish control. Unless you would enjoy living in a poor, useless country.
